GREETINGS

On behalf of the officers and members of the Metroplex Society of Health-System Pharmacists (MSHP), you are cordially invited to become a part of this rapidly growing, dynamic, professional organization. MSHP includes pharmacists, technicians, and other healthcare professionals whose goal is to optimize pharmacy practice for the public’s benefit. We solicit your membership and support to further improve and expand pharmaceutical services.
Today’s environment of pharmacy presents many exciting challenges to the practitioner. Patient oriented services such as intravenous admixtures, medication profiles, drug information, unit dose distribution systems, automation, and clinical pharmacy services require a continuing commitment on the part of the health-system pharmacist. Whether one offers professional knowledge and skills to a 15-bed nursing home or to the complexities of a 1000 bed integrated health system network, the responsibility of providing the best possible pharmaceutical services is of equal importance.
Such responsibility and commitment require the active support on one’s professional colleagues. MSHP is the only organization specifically directed and motivated to assist the pharmacist and other related health care professionals in improving institutional and health care pharmacy practice in the Metroplex. We look forward to your active participation!

OBJECTIVE OF THE SOCIETY

To PROMOTE, encourage and improve pharmacy practice in an integrated Health Care System environment.
To IMPROVE the qualifications and professional skills of health-system pharmacists.
To ASSIST in providing an adequate supply of qualified health-system pharmacists for the future.
To FACILITATE the development and implementation of educational programs, materials and other opportunities that will support the provision of quality pharmaceutical care.
To INFLUENCE the legislative and regulatory processes in the state government to promote the successful implementation of the pharmaceutical care model.

MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES

ACTIVE MEMBERS are pharmacists who are currently practicing pharmacy in a hospital or related healthcare institution, are primarily teaching pharmacy in colleges of pharmacy or are primarily engaged in health system pharmacy organizations.
HONORARY MEMBERS may be elected from among individuals who are making or have made outstanding contributions to health system pharmacy.
ASSOCIATE MEMBERS are individuals other than institutional pharmacists who by their work in the health services, or otherwise contributing to institutional pharmacy, make themselves eligible for membership.
RESIDENT members enrolled in recognized postgraduate residency training programs.
STUDENT members are individuals enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs in an accredited college of pharmacy.
TECHNICIAN members are individuals employed as supportive personnel in an institutional pharmacy environment.
